"How do you keep your house so clean?" asked NO ONE EVER!! Seriously, if you imagine me sitting here writing this email in a decluttered and clean schoolroom, you are sadly mistaken. That is always my goal, but I always fall short.

This mama is often on the struggle bus, and the more other moms I talk to, the more I realize I'm not alone. We all have strengths and weaknesses, but none of us feels like we've "arrived" at some elusive pinnacle of motherhood, especially when we add homeschooling into the mix. So as I sit here in my messy schoolroom with unfinished projects all around me, I'm going to share a few things that I have found useful or interesting...

📝 Fresh Picks

​All About Reading/Spelling/Math 20% off SITE-WIDE SALE* - I don't recall ever seeing them do this big of a sale, esp. site-wide. It ends June 29th at midnight. If you want to know more about our experience with AAR, check out this page.

​School (or Computer) Desks* - I bought two of these this week for my younger two kids while they were on a "Prime Day Special" and we just put one together tonight. As I told my husband, I'm glad I only paid $60-something for each, but I think they'll do the job for a few years. You can build the (canvas) drawers section on the left or right, which means, I can add a few more inches of separation between my younger two kids' seats if I build one of each version and put the drawers next to each other.

🧰 Teaching Tools

Facebook Groups - If you have a FB account, you'll find that there are groups for all sorts of homeschool needs. For example:

• "Math with Confidence Community" - This group is run by Kate's Homeschool Math Help. People post helpful resources on here, like free binder spines for each level of MWC. You can search other specific curriculum brands as well. I've found that this one and the one for All About Reading are very good for getting ideas and advice.
• Other types of groups I've found useful include ones about a certain style of homeschooling, B/S/T curriculum, or Homeschooling in a certain state or area. Just search around and you will find lots of online community for various niches!!

📚 On My Bookshelf

This week the books are ones I'm reading, but they are not homeschooling specific...

​Low Anthropology* by David Zahl - I've been reading this over the past few months slowly here and there and have found it really encouraging and challenging. I'm not alone in my struggles, and by recognizing that we are all struggling, I can have more grace for those around me as well.

​Gracelaced* by Ruth Chou Simons - I'm currently reading this one for my own Christian growth. Not only are her words an encouragement, but each page is so beautiful that it relaxes me to just look at them! I could easily frame half the book! (I have also previously read and absolutely loved her Beholding and Becoming*.) They make beautiful coffee table books too. Granted, my coffee table is currently covered in butcher paper with my kids' doodles all over it.
