We are at the beach this week with extended family. I am so thankful for the time to rest, relax, celebrate birthdays, and enjoy the surroundings. But my husband just reminded me how I don't want him working on vacation, so I'm going to try to play by my own "rules" and not work on vacation either...

So, here's my very short newsletter to say I'm reading For the Children's Sake* by Susan Schaeffer Mcaulay again. My paperback copy has gotten rained on during a beach shower, and I doubt it's going to last longer than this trip. But, the lessons are so encouraging to me as a homeschool mom. Based on a teachings of Charlotte Mason, Mcaulay breaths a breath of fresh air into my homeschool room.

Although it is unapologetically Christian, I think others could find it incredibly encouraging - just like I frequently learn from secular sources. For example, the book Free to Learn* gave me so much food for thought. You can read more about my thoughts in this article, A Laughing Kid is a Learning Kid.​
