When my youngest was born, I had three kids under four, and after my oldest turned four, I still had two under two. I absolutely loved being their mama, but changing diapers, nursing, feeding toddlers and repeating was exhausting.
Then they got a little bigger and I started homeschooling my oldest. Sending "the babies" to Mother's Morning Out a couple days a week was a lifesaver, because when they were home it was much harder to get our school work done. When my middle child joined us for kindergarten I was OVERWHELMED. This really surprised me. I am a certified teacher who used to teach a class of 20+ kids at once. But two at my dining room table was quite a learning curve.
Then, last year my youngest joined us and yet again things changed. Each stage has had its ups and downs, its challenges and joys, but the thing is - it keeps on changing. Last year's frustrations aren't necessarily what we will face this year. And just a year can work wonders in a child's ability to concentrate or their interest in learning. I certainly don't expect any stage of parenting to be a walk in the park, but it helps me to remember when we are struggling that "this too shall pass."

🧰 Teaching Tools
Whiteboards have made my homeschool so much more fun this year!
For HANDWRITING we've loved the Logic of English handwriting whiteboard* - it's great for practicing cursive and doodling! My kids generally prefer the "back" side where the lines are smaller.
Math and Geography Whiteboards - I recently discovered the Scribbledo store* on Amazon and have purchased several of their math whiteboards as well as the US map one. Sometimes doing math problems on a whiteboard is more fun than paper. Note: I have found that these boards work best with the Scribbledo brand dry-erase markers*. And they have some that are VERY thin - perfect for math work!
📚 On My Bookshelf
Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales* - Apparently these historical fiction graphic novels are a hit with my fifth grader.
Pizza and Taco: Too Cool for School* - This silly and short graphic novel has been enjoyed by all three of mine.
Cynthia Rylant's The Cobble Street Cousins* - A friend loaned this series to us, and my daughter and I just started reading this together. It's a sweet beginning chapter book series (but not the "easiest" beginning level.)
